For a long while now our partners have struggled managing devices from multiple environments across different sites. Also, the amount of time spent doing things like re-provisioning phones after config changes or factory resetting devices for troubleshooting purposes really start to burn through too much time especially when needing to “roll a truck.”
We took things into consideration and now with our impending move to Rackspace we realized that this is probably the right time to invest in an option to bring everything under “one roof” and centralize the management of the thousands of devices out there.
Main Points:
- This centralized system will automatically tie into RPS platforms from poplar providers like Yealink, Snom, Polycom and others.
- You will only have to point the phones to 1 central provisioning URL and then from the portal you can setup what the 3CX provisioning URL is. When the phone goes to try and provision the system will pull the provisioning profile from that 3CX instance and upload and then transfer it to the phone in question. The phone will always be pointed to the central system even after the profile is downloaded.
- The central system will keep better track of deployed phones and also track health status so that you can see if devices are online or offline or “un-healthy”.
- You can manage firmware from this system all from one place and upgrade or downgrade as needed.
- You can setup multi-level access for your team and also for your customer if you choose.
There is much more to this however with these things in mind you can imagine how migrating thousands of devices is something that we don’t want to do more than once right?
