Video conferencing is powering sales forces to close more sales, thanks to the personal touch that a face-to-face meeting provides.
This is one reason why the global market for video conferencing equipment and services, powered by the growth of Unified Communications, is forecast to expand at a CAGR of 8.5 percent during the period from 2015 to 2023, according to a report by Transparency Market Research published in December 2015.
According to sales consultant Brian Tracy, fully 80 percent of sales success depends on personality. “In sales, your personality is more important than your product knowledge. It is more important than your sales skills. It is more important than the product or service that you are selling,” Tracy points out.
And salespeople can hold many more face-to-face meetings via video conferencing — it’s a lot faster and cheaper than travel. Using the WebRTC platform technology, it’s also easy for anyone to use.
With video conferencing, salespeople can control the sales process better. Research from the European Center for Training and Development shows that the personal touch makes the difference in closing a sale. “For a sales rep to close a deal, it is the confidence, endurance and ability to control the situation at the point where a sale is about to be closed,” – it’s all about the pro-active sales personality, the research showed.
The pro-active sales personality accounted for 77 percent of the ability to manage customer relationships, the research shows.
So it’s critical for salespeople to learn to handle themselves well on camera. If you are video-conferencing with a client or prospect, you don’t want them to be distracted by visual or audio issues, according to the U.S. National Association of Sales Professionals. If you can emulate an office environment even in your hotel room or living room, that will help make your audience more comfortable.
Always remember to look at the camera, not the video display of the person/people you are talking to! Be sure to practice making eye contact with the webcam beforehand. When you are talking, be sure to tilt your head forward — it looks more appealing on the webcam. And don’t forget to smile and laugh!
The rapid growth of Cloud PBX, as the report notes, is making video conferencing ubiquitous in major companies around the world. BVoIP offers video conferencing in a few clicks, so that salespeople can get personal on screen anytime, and anywhere they wish.
