Event Recap: Comptia ChannelCon 2016

We were thrilled to make it down to our very first Comptia ChannelCon 2016. This is one of the events where the IT Industry gets together and really shines. With over 150 channel vendors and hundreds of IT and MSP's in attendance it was a cool thing to see come together.

What we learned:

The channel is still pushing into the managed and reccurring services model
Security is starting to take center stage
Cloud is thriving and continues to be the focus
There is a talent shortage and it seems to be getting worse as time goes on
STEM is pushing students to coding not neccessarily IT and this is creating a larger gap
Comptia is setting up efforts to bring high school students into the IT fold with new programs
Within 5 years 75% of the IT businesses will be run by millenials
40% of current IT professionals in the channel are set to retire in the next 7 years.
